Enterprise Risk Manager

The Enterprise Risk Manager plays a critical role in helping the organization to identify and manage risks and opportunities that impact San Manuel. San Manuel is establishing an ERM framework to help support robust decision-making and enhance the operating culture. The successful candidate will guide the organization in assessing and analyzing a wide range of risks utilizing a structured and systematic risk management framework through regular interactions with subject matter experts throughout the organization, including executives and directors.
The ideal candidate is a risk subject matter expert with recognized experience in leading Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk Management programs. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of Native American Tribe governance and operations. The successful candidate should also have strong project management, analytical, and client skills exercising sound business judgment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
ERM Framework Enhancement: Strategic design, development and implementation of policies, procedures and systems required for maintaining and enhancing the overall ERM mission.
Risk Assessments: Conducting, and coordinating risk assessments; working with Operating Units (OUs) to identify new/emerging risks and evaluating their likelihood and potential impact.
ERM Leading Practices: Recommending specific steps to reduce risk and enhance the ERM program by integrating ERM leading practices to help assure continuous improvement of the overall program.
ERM Governance: Developing protocols and implementing routines and practices to support risk management discussion, visibility, remediation, and accountability.
Root Cause Analysis: Supporting root cause analysis efforts to ensure that whenever possible, the underlying cause of any significant loss is understood. This also include collaborating cross-functionally to implement processes to manage or reduce risk in the future.
Cross-functional Coordination: Coordinate with 2nd & 3rd line functions (e.g. Internal Audits (IA), Ethics & Compliance (E&C), Security, Business Resiliency, etc.) to align on methodology & approach, as well as with 1st line functions to enhance operating plans.
Consulting and Training: Developing and delivering ERM training to the various risk organizations, risk professionals, employees, executives and others to enhance the "culture" of risk management and application of risk management in business processes.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Mathematics, Economics or a related discipline.
Five (5) years of experience in risk management; implementing and managing the program at a mid-cap or large-cap entity.
Experience analyzing and developing risk assessment processes and assessing risk within a process or business function.
Excellent project management skills.
Demonstrated history of developing and leading complex projects or programs.
Organized and able to effectively manage multiple, diverse tasks and adhere to tight deadlines.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related discipline.
Certified Disaster Planner (or equivalent), P.E. in safety or fire protection or equivalent, or other recognized risk management certification.
Experience in quantitative/analytical risk management.
A combination of 7 years risk management, ERM experience, operational risk management, loss prevention, risk assessment, or business continuity/disaster recovery experience.
Demonstrated executive-level consulting skills.
Strong interpersonal, change management and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated strategic planning and project management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, lead client meetings, discuss issues and controls, and report on progress of work product.
Excellent planning and teamwork skills and the ability to build effective relationships in several areas of the business.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-discipline team.
Ability to express control deficiencies in a business context.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company's insurance carrier.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
