Solution Architect

The Solution Architect is responsible for transforming business and functional requirements into architectural designs and documentation for a systematic solution to a business need. These architectural artifacts will define the interaction between applications, databases, and middleware, as well as identify any potential integration problems or functional gaps. The Solution Architect will also participate in the formulation of deployment strategies, and identify technological risks associated with those deployments. The Solution Architect will be a member of the IT Steering Committee and the Change Advisory Board.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and maintain architectural documents depicting current state solutions architecture, including the integration and interaction between applications.
Translate functional and business requirements into architecture and design that will be used as one of the primary tools for any system evaluation, development and deployment.
Effectively balance the architectural concerns of our deployment projects with the concerns of the Tribe and Casino.
Participate, with business stakeholders and the assigned Business Relationship Manager during requirements definition and in the application selection process, including demonstrations, RFx creation and response evaluation.
Assist Program and Project Managers as a technical consultant/subject matter expert as needed during each phase of a system deployment project.
Collaborate with QA team to develop test plans. Monitor execution of those test plans and participate in the evaluation of those results, from a performance and plan adherence perspective.
Collaborate with IT Leadership and Enterprise Architecture teams during the creation of system roadmaps for the Tribe and Casino, and ensure that those roadmaps align with Enterprise Architecture's documented direction.
Maintain an awareness of industry solutions for all business verticals, as well as changing trends affecting those opportunities.
Identify and design solution integration opportunities, and work with development team as needed during development of same.
Create and drive major strategic product enhancements and innovations to support overall strategy.
Provide knowledge of web-based systems architecture, service oriented architecture, as well as current and changing principles and best practices and tools.
Work with project team to identify risks, and develop mitigation plans.
Assist management to define best practices for project management.
Performs other job specific duties as assigned.
Minimum five (5) years prior experience as a Solution Architect, Software Developer, Application Architect, or related discipline, with a demonstrated track record of delivery.
Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience required.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in requirements gathering and development.
Strong experience with systems analysis and functional design.
Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle and/or agile development methodologies.
Strong technical verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify terminology that a non-technical end user and/or senior executive can understand.
Ability to create a positive and professional business relationship with internal and external clients as well as third-party service/product providers.
Ability to effectively communicate with technical professionals, and an understanding of system architecture and software architecture.
Knowledge of the Casino Gaming industry preferred.
TOGAF certification preferred.
ITIL (Foundation or higher) certification preferred, not required.
Scrum Master certification preferred, not required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class "A" Gaming License issued by the San Manuel Gaming Commission.
A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company's insurance carrier.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
