Systems Administrator, IT

The Information Technology (IT) department for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (the Tribe) provides and supports a leading edge technology infrastructure to the organization in support of ever changing technological advances in the Gaming industry and the Tribe's business enterprises. The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is key to the success of the IT staff to meet the demands of this technically proficient and high demand department.
The IT Systems Administrator role, working under the guidance of senior management, is to proactively monitor and manage all aspects of the IT infrastructure. This includes reporting, systems management and capacity management across the various infrastructure disciplines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Proactively monitor and validate performance of all VMWare, Windows, Linux, Storage and network systems.
Provide support, troubleshooting and administration of all VMWare, Windows, Linux, Storage and network systems.
Perform operating system administration for local and remote systems, including installation, software patch, system security, data-backup, and disc array management.
Ensure backup, restore and disaster recovery capabilities meet or exceed service level agreements.
Perform Incident, Problem and Change management tasks as determined by management (including but not limited to Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Request for Change (RFC) and event/incident management).
Collaborate with IT teams to create, develop and maintain documented policies, procedures, and processes such as operational run books.
Be on call on a rotational basis to support essential business clients and emergency situations.
Provide purchase justifications and project benefit analysis.
Troubleshoot any issues that arise with the infrastructure systems, including but not limited to, working with third part vendors and partners as well as other SMBMI employees.
Continually research ways to improve the system performance, policies, procedures and tools
Candidate will assist with the design of infrastructure projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or a related field required.
Minimum of five (5) years of systems administration experience
Equivalent combination of education and direct and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
Experience working with VMware and Windows in a large enterprise environment is a must.
Knowledge of and experience with PowerCLI, vCO, or other automating tools is essential to this role.
Must possess working knowledge of Windows scripting including PowerShell, Batch, and VBS.
In-depth knowledge of and experience with platform hardware and OS level support is required.
Must possess a keen understanding of enterprise class SAN, NAS, and backup technologies.
Must have a solid knowledge of load balancing, clustering, and name lookup (DNS) and troubleshooting skills.
This role requires the ability to diagnose hardware/OS problems and to optimize system setups for complex application environments.
The incumbent should be capable of writing proposals, procedures, policies, and technical documentation.
Experience with Windows Server is required and Linux preferred (Red Hat Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux a plus).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with management is a must.
Candidate must be capable of critical thinking and possess the ability to resolve complex problems. However, they should have the ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
Hardware experience required: Dell, HP, Cisco, NetApp, EMC, Aruba.
Experience in vendor product evaluation (hardware, software, service providers) highly preferred.
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
Certification in VMware, MS (MCSE), Linux, Cisco, and/or backup suites highly preferred.
ITIL v3 Foundation certification highly preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
