Sr. Benefits Administrator

Summary
Under the direction of the Benefits Manager in the Human Resources Department, the Sr. Benefits Administrator will process monthly benefit premiums and assist with the day-to-day administration of the SMBMI employee health and welfare plans (i.e., including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending account, short term disability, long term disability, leave of absences, COBRA), retirement plans, the Educational Assistance Program and other benefit plans as required.
Customer focus, maintaining confidentiality and protecting the privacy of our employees are key requirements of the role and should be at the forefront of every action taken while fulfilling role responsibilities and performing essential duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide customer services to employees with benefit inquiries.
Process monthly health and welfare premiums timely.
Work closely with carrier premium accounting representatives and payroll to research benefit-payment discrepancies and apply adjustments accordingly.
Prepare Casino Payroll Benefit deduction reports.
Create monthly/rolling annual cost tracking report.
Monitor benefit payment arrears and issue employee notices to employees.
Oversee LOA benefit payments and issue reminder notices as may be required.
Maintains and updates Benefits Annual Rate (BAR) in HCM.
Input and/or upload 401(k) deferral and loan changes in HCM and report changes to Payroll as may be needed.
Facilitate 401(k) loans for the purchase of a primary residence.
Forward in-service request to 401(k) record keeper.
Review 401(k) hardship withdrawal and other forms for completion prior to approval and/or forwarding to the 401(k) record keeper and enter suspensions in HCM.
Assist with 401(k) annual disclosure notice distributions and other benefits mailings.
Assist with annual Open Enrollment efforts.
Assist with eligibility audits.
Process Education Assistance Program (EAP) applications and reimbursements.
Schedule one-on-one meetings with Benefits Manager and meet every other week to discuss work load and the statuses of key projects.
Provide administrative and project support to the benefits team as may be required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Three (3) years of prior benefits or accounting experience.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
Work may require travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
Must be able to work in a fast paced, high demand environment.
Must be able to work on a computer for extensive amounts of time on a daily basis.
Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone.
Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, and over the telephone.
Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, or to make general observations of facilities, guests and employees.
Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
Strength sufficient to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds below or at waist level and occasionally lift, move or carry objects over 25 pounds below and at waist level with assistance.
Employee may be exposed to airborne particles and secondhand smoke.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
