Security Engineer

Reporting to the Information Security Architect, the security engineer will enhance our security posture by protecting system boundaries, keeping computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and securing highly sensitive data. Qualified candidates will have a background in security or systems engineering. This role will focus on engineering, implementing and monitoring security measures for the protection of IT systems, networks and other information assets.
The individual must be self-starting, creative, and able to think through a project from start to finish. This position requires knowledge and expertise with various operating systems, software systems, hardware and network configurations. This position works in conjunction with various departments, including Enterprise Architecture, Application Support, Development and QA by addressing technical issues related to Information Security.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
Identify and define system security requirements.
Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.
Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates.
Acquire a complete understanding of an organization's technology and information systems through relationships with IT teams and auditors throughout the organization.
Participate in incident response by providing expert knowledge on security incidents and mitigation strategies.
Engage with third-parties to evaluate solutions, respond to security events and better understand the threat landscape.
Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging security practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor's Degree from a recognized and accredited institute of higher education.
3-5 years of experience performing detailed needs assessments and/or implementation of modern information security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, endpoint security solutions, servers and other infrastructure solutions (SIEM, federated authentication and authorization, anomaly detection systems, identity and access management, public and private cloud technologies)
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
Industry certifications such as GAIC, GESC, CISSP, CRISK, EC-EH, EC-CHFI are a plus.
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
