Food Safety Specialist

The Food Safety Specialist responsibilities include working as a situational and atmosphere food safety expert and examining the implements of procedures and methods to achieve industry best practices status.
The food safety specialist examines and helps with deciding the proper cleanliness methods adopted and holding the conditions that influence the protection of food. The specialist audits by making use of the California Food Code and industry best practice standards in order to examine processes. The food safety specialist shoulders many responsibilities that may vary according to the business volumes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ensuring that the food items are clean and free of any pollutants and impurities so that the customers don't fall sick.
Making sure that the food is prepared as per the safety modulations of California Food Code and industry best practices.
Collaborating with the risk management team in order to solve any issues related to the administration and operational aspects of food preparation and compliance.
Completing effective plans and conducting programs in order to help the suitable development of the food and beverage department.
Growing and holding effective and efficient relations with supporting departments in order to update the needs of the food and beverage department.
Working with the managers, chefs, supervisors, leads, and directors and assisting them with supplying the plans and programs to keep the food and beverage department in compliance.
Scrutinizing the systems and policies, suggesting enhancements, and ensuring risk-free preservation of food items and beverages.
Performing other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred.
Minimum one (1) years training experience required.
Minimum two (2) years food service industry experience required; three (3) years preferred.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office required. (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
Must possess advanced knowledge of Health, Gaming, FDA, IHS and OSHA regulations and codes in regards to all aspects of Food & Beverage operations.
Comprehensive knowledge of safe, sanitary food handling procedures, preparation methods, merchandising and supervision.
Must possess an understanding of food & beverage operations and its relation to the organization as a whole.
Must possess knowledge of all types of commercial kitchen equipment.
Must be able to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
Must be self-motivated and confident.
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
ServSafe certificate required.
Must obtain and maintain a current Food Handlers Card before start date.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
