Lead, Groundskeeping

Founded in 1986, the San Manuel Casino (SMC) has built a strong reputation as a premier gaming establishment attracting more than two-million guests a year! Our Facilities department strives to create a pleasurable experience for all patrons by ensuring our buildings and grounds are updated, safe, maintained and clean at all times.
Under the direction of the Groundskeeping Supervisor, the Lead Groundskeeper is responsible for providing guidance and assistance to team members in completing all goals and missions set forth by the department and SMC. This position is a working team leader.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assigns team members to daily, weekly and long term duties and functions as instructed by management.
Directs and guides team members on all duties and functions in the absence of the supervisor.
Trains team members on proper practices and procedures.
Assists team members on all duties and projects.
Provides safety instructions and ensures team works efficiently and safely in safe working conditions. Ensures use of proper safety precautions is taken (safety tape, caution signs, traffic signs, etc.).
Ensures that all team members are using the proper personal protective equipment on the various tasks (safety glasses, safety vest, etc.).
Ensures that equipment, material, and supplies are on-hand for the team.
Maintains inventory of existing stock; fills department supply requests; orders supplies, material, equipment, rags, mops, etc.
Ensures that all chemicals are properly identified and have proper Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labels.
Completes walk through of all areas and follows-up on completion of projects/tasks.
Reports all unsafe conditions to management.
Performs preventative maintenance checks on all equipment.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Continuing education coursework preferred.
Minimum one (1) year groundskeeping experience.
OSHA background helpful.
Basic understanding of computers required.
Ability to use all necessary tools and equipment required to complete all duties and jobs.
Ability to follow safety guidelines when using required chemicals, equipment, tools, and techniques while performing job duties; ability to give safety instructions to team members.
Must understand the SDS sheets.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
Knowledge of emergency shut-off procedures for gas, water, electrical, etc.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class "B" Gaming License issued by the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission.
A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid Commercial Class "B" driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company's insurance carrier.
Certification in related field a plus.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
