Wireless Network Engineer II

The Information Technology (IT) department for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (the Tribe) provides and supports a leading edge technology infrastructure to the organization in support of ever changing technological advances in the Gaming industry and the Tribe?s business enterprises.? The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is key to the success of the IT staff to meet the demands of this technically proficient and high demand department.?


The Wireless Network Engineer II plays a critical role in the design, installation, testing, implementation, and maintenance of the wireless network infrastructure of the entire organization. Under the direction of the Manager, IT Infrastructure, the Wireless Network Engineer II is responsible for the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of a large, multisite, high density wireless infrastructure.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities




  • Design, install, test, implement, and maintain highly available wireless networks for optimal performance.


  • Design, install, test, implement, and maintain highly available, high speed wireless backhaul for remote site connectivity.


  • Design, install, test, implement, and maintain industry leading security across the Wireless infrastructure.


  • Design, install, test, implement, and maintain high-density guest wireless networks.


  • Design, install, test, implement, and maintain cellular DAS and small cell systems.


  • Oversee all outside consultants/vendors while working on wireless projects; provide technical assessment of requirements and definition from conception to launch.


  • Optimize existing wireless networks by adjusting radio network parameters, adding/deleting of neighbors and recommending possible solutions to hardware problems.


  • Work with internal staff and outside vendors to design future wireless networks; study and evaluate new wireless technologies and their potential application benefits to our network and suggest enhancements as appropriate.


  • Serve as a backup to the Senior Network Engineer in the administration and troubleshooting of the network.


  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot centralized network infrastructure such as routers, hubs, switches, etc.


  • Design and validate RF link performance, quality and reliability.


  • Monitor and analyze statistical and drive test data to improve system performance indicators.


  • Recommend site upgrades.


  • Engineer solutions to integrate wireless LAN coverage into new facilities.


  • Train and mentor other network engineers.


  • Create manuals and support documentation.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Education/Experience/Qualifications




  • Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, preferably with an emphasis in Information Technology or a minimum of 3 advanced level certifications specific to wireless networking required.


  • Minimum of five (5) years of overall data network experience, including two (2) years of experience in the design of wireless networks required.


  • Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.


  • Expert level knowledge of all ratified wireless network standards derived from experience with wireless spectrum analyzers, network/protocol/packet analyzer, wireless surveying and performance tools, WiFi security standards.


  • Expert level knowledge and understanding of policy based authentication using Clearpass required


  • Experience developing and implementing high density wireless networks in all of enterprise, hospitality and guest environments required.


  • Detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of IP protocols, firewalls, switches and routers is essential.


  • Experience configuring, installing, and troubleshooting centralized network infrastructure such as routers, hubs, switches, etc. is mandatory. HPe experience is required Cisco experience is desirable


  • Hands on experience with Aruba AirWave and IDS/IPS Controls required.


  • Keen knowledge working with Wireless Mesh Technologies required.


  • Expert level working knowledge of 802.1x, NPS, Certificate Authority.


  • Experience with FCC licensed spectrum wireless preferred


  • Working knowledge of SIAE Microelettronica high capacity microwave systems advantageous


  • Working knowledge of PAN?s desirable


  • Hospitality wifi experience desirable


  • Experience with femtocell or similar low power cellular base station systems desirable


  • 2+ years working experience with high speed, wireless backhaul technologies. Ubiquiti experience preferred. Federal spectrum compliance experience preferred.


  • 2+ years working experience with cellular technologies.


  • Proven, demonstrable knowledge of the OSI model.


  • Demonstrated expert ability capturing, analyzing, and interpreting raw network traffic. Extensive experience with packet/protocol fault analysis for common IP and Ethernet protocols and troubleshooting wired and wireless connections using wireless traffic analyzers.


  • Knowledge of WIDS/WIPS technologies, VPNs, firewall theory, and packet analysis principles and techniques applied in securing operating systems and LAN/WAN networks.



Certificates/Licenses/Registrations




  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.


  • MCSE, ACMA, ACMP, ACMX, ACDX, ACCA, ACCP, ACSP and/or CCNA preferred.


  • CCENT, CWNA and WDP certification highly preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
