Senior Surveillance Systems Administrator

Under the direction of the Surveillance Systems Supervisor, the Senior Surveillance Systems Administrator serves as a technical expert on systems administration in a large and complex computing environment. This position serves as a specialist on multiple operating systems and platforms supporting large scale computing. The Senior Systems Administrator applies professional experience and training in Information Technology (IT) to the most complex assignments requiring development and installation of operating system software, systems programming and modification of operating systems, performance analysis, database maintenance, and management, security administration, and management of data storage. The Senior Surveillance Systems Administrator plays a critical role in the deployment, configuration, security, monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting of the back end infrastructure. The Senior Surveillance Systems Administrator is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery for mission critical systems. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. The Senior Surveillance Systems Administrator is responsible for assisting and providing coverage for Surveillance Technical Management and must be an effective leader, mentor, and responsible individual for training and oversight of Surveillance Systems Administrators. The Senior Surveillance Systems Administrator is also responsible for ensuring surveillance systems are operating within regulatory guidelines at all times.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Monitors and ensure the quality of operations with Surveillance Systems Administrators and vendors, through effective communication ensuring problems are effectively and promptly resolved.
Manage day-to-day operations of Surveillance Department systems by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained.
Plan, execute, and manage projects. Prioritizes and meets deadlines in a dynamic environment with changing priorities. Works with vendors to during support activities.
Organize and distribute the workflow of Surveillance Systems Administrators; reviews work product from subordinates to ensure accuracy and quality.
Configure, install, maintain, and troubleshoot IT systems, appliances, and devices such as servers, switches, storage devices, PC's, etc. Leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
Windows Server (SQL Server, SharePoint, Others), VMware, VSphere & vCenter administration, and monitoring. Installing, configuring and maintaining multi-purposed servers and hardware; responding to and planning for service outages.
Multisite SAN/NAS/DAS storage administration (Fiber Channel/iSCSI/NAS).
Provides expert knowledge and support for business applications.
Researches surveillance and IT technologies, makes recommendations on enhancements to ensure efficient and cost-effective surveillance systems operation. Participates in the development and implementation of key strategies, best practice techniques, and tactics to ensure system optimization.
Maintains a working knowledge of Surveillance Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), SMTGC and casino policies/procedures, federal, state, and tribal regulations pertaining to the SMBMI and its operations.
Be able to quickly adapt to new situations, have a strong commitment to a team environment, maintain a capacity to work with little supervision, and demonstrate the willingness to learn new technologies.
Train and mentor Surveillance Systems Administrators sharing knowledge of surveillance and IT best practices with team members to continuously develop or enhance personal and team capabilities.
Assumes Supervisor responsibilities in absence of Supervisor.
Provides testimony as a subject matter expert in Gaming Commission hearings, Tribal Court, or Court of Law.
Is "on-call" and responsible for technical support in response to business needs on a 24 hour 7 day a week basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or similar discipline.
Minimum six (6) years surveillance systems administration or IT related experience required.
Equivalent combination of direct, relevant and progressive IT systems administration experience and education may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's Degree and required experience.
Supervisory experience preferred
Experience configuring, installing and troubleshooting IT systems, appliances, and devices such as servers, switches, storage devices, PC's, etc. required.
Microsoft Windows Server, VMware, EMC storage experience strongly preferred.
Direct experience with Dell, Cisco UCS, Cisco / Enterasys switching and EMC storage appliances is preferred.
Knowledge of security principles and techniques applied in securing operating systems, data and LAN/WAN networks.
Experience with common server monitoring tools (i.e. Solarwinds).
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company's insurance carrier.
CompTIA (various), MCSE, CCNA, related, or combination of, certification preferred.
Vocational/Technical/Business certification in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
